Self Portrait.

This is my entry into this challenge.

I have chosen an “African Inspiration” as my theme to link to this photograph.

When I first saw Man Ray’s original photograph, the first thing that I noticed was the mask. I am very fond of masks and have a small collection. And in Africa masks are very popular you can purchase the most beautiful hand-made masks all over. The one I used in this photograph is my favourite wooden one that I purchased on one of my Namibian trips.

~photo-remake [link] is a community which concentrates on the creative reproduction of photos made by photography masters. The concept of the group is pretty easy to describe. Every month a link to a photo masterpiece will be given which should act as the blueprint of what you are going to create. Take this photo as a model and recreate it with your cam.

You then send a link of the reproduction (which should be posted in dA) to this account [link] We will collect all submissions and set up a poll.

Everyone votes for the top 3 photos which finally will be posted in the groups gallery. Other prizes might be available later.

The first photograph which should be recreated has been choosen. It is "Noire et Blanche" by Man Ray. Take this as the blueprint or orientation for what you are going to create. You are free to interprete this photo to your likings but the connection to the original Man Ray photo should be obvious! Now go and take photos! The deadline is pretty late in the future. Round #01 expires at 13. September 2005, after that the judging poll where you vote for the top 3 (maybe 5) will be set up.
